Myrrh

If You Read Nothing Else

A cluster of rough reddish-orange lumps of dried myrrh resin on a dark surface
Myrrh (morr) dries into reddish nuggets, darker and far more bitter than frankincense.

Myrrh is bitter, hardened tree sap — a resin, not a herb you cook with.

It tightens and dries tissue, which is why it suits weeping sores rather than dry ones.

Never take myrrh by mouth in pregnancy — it can stimulate the womb.
